The Day in Brief
- Morning: hotel pick-up at 07:30, drive to Cu Chi, a short documentary and a guided walk through the tunnel site.
- Lunch: back in the city for a certified halal lunch at around 12:30.
- Afternoon: the Independence Palace, a photo stop at Notre-Dame Cathedral, the War Remnants Museum and free time at Ben Thanh Market.
- Return: drop-off at your hotel at around 17:00.
Highlights
- Cu Chi Tunnels: part of a hand-dug network of more than 120 km on up to three levels, with hidden trapdoors, kitchens and meeting rooms.
- Independence Palace: the former presidential palace where the war ended on 30 April 1975, with its 1960s state rooms and basement command bunker.
- Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Saigon Central Post Office: the red-brick cathedral and its French-era neighbour on Paris Square.
- War Remnants Museum: photo galleries on the war years and aircraft and tanks in the courtyard.
- Ben Thanh Market: local coffee, dried fruit and handicrafts; tips in our Saigon shopping guide.
Halal Food and Muslim Travel Notes
- Halal meals: lunch is served after you return from Cu Chi, at a halal restaurant with certified halal food. There is no included meal at the tunnels, so bring snacks or buy sealed drinks there. See our guide to halal restaurants in Saigon.
- Mosque: the standard route does not include a mosque, but Saigon Central Mosque at 66 Dong Du Street is a few minutes from the afternoon stops and can be added; see mosques in Ho Chi Minh City. Prayer times are not fixed in the itinerary because much of the day is spent travelling; tell your guide what you need and they will help where possible.
- Dress code: light, modest clothes covering shoulders and knees for the whole day – the Independence Palace refuses entry in shorts or sleeveless tops – plus closed shoes for the forest paths.
Who This Tour Suits – and Who Should Choose Another
- Good for: travellers with a single free day in Saigon, families with children aged 5 and over and history lovers who want the war story told from the tunnels to the palace.
- Choose another tour if you prefer a slower day in the centre with a mosque visit – take the Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day – or if you want the countryside as well, in which case the Cu Chi Tunnels – Mekong Delta Muslim Tour 1 Day is the better match.
- Not included: the optional shooting range at Cu Chi (paid on the spot), drinks and the inside of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which is closed for restoration.
Is One Day Enough for the Cu Chi Tunnels and Saigon?
Yes, if you are happy with a full day. The tunnels take a morning, and the city’s main sights fit into the afternoon because the car drives you between them. If you want a slower pace or time at Saigon Central Mosque, split the day: the tunnels on one day and the city tour on another.
Customize Your Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day
- Shorten the day to a half-day at the Cu Chi Tunnels only.
- Add Saigon Central Mosque on Dong Du Street to the afternoon.
- Replace the city afternoon with the Mekong Delta, as on our Cu Chi Tunnels – Mekong Delta tour.
- Book a hotel near Dong Du Street for easy access to the mosque and halal restaurants.

Local Expert Notes
By Jimmy, Saigon Muslim Tours
- The drive to Cu Chi takes around 1.5–2 hours each way. Leaving at 07:30 puts you at the tunnels before the forest gets hot and before most tour buses arrive.
- The tunnel passages are narrow, dark and warm. Try the first few metres and come out at the next exit if it feels uncomfortable – many guests watch from above.
- The Independence Palace opens daily from 7:00 to 18:00 and the War Remnants Museum from 7:30 to 17:30, so both fit easily into the afternoon.
- Notre-Dame Cathedral is under restoration until beyond 2027, so the stop is a photo of the façade from Paris Square.

FAQs
1. What does the Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day include?
A private English-speaking guide and air-conditioned car, hotel transfers, a certified halal lunch, entrance fees in the itinerary and bottled water. Drinks, tips and the optional shooting range are extra.
2. How much does the Cu Chi Tunnels and Saigon city tour cost?
From USD 34 per person for a group of 21 or more; smaller groups pay more per person, as shown in the price table. Send us your date and number of travellers for an exact quote within 24 hours: contact our team.
3. Is the lunch halal?
Yes. Lunch is at a halal restaurant with certified halal food in central Ho Chi Minh City, after you return from Cu Chi. See our guide to halal restaurants in Saigon.
4. Is this a private or a shared tour?
Private. The guide and car are only for your group, so the timing and stops can follow your family rather than a group schedule.
5. Do I have to crawl through the tunnels, and how fit do I need to be?
No, the crawl is optional, and much of the visit is above ground on forest paths. Average fitness is enough; the passages are not advised for anyone with claustrophobia or heart, back or knee problems.
6. What is the best time of year to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels?
December to April is dry and the forest paths are easiest. From May to November the paths can be muddy after afternoon rain, so the early start helps.
7. Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes, children aged 5 and over usually enjoy the tunnels; the guide can shorten the War Remnants Museum stop for families. Children from 2 to under 5 usually travel free or at about 50% of the price, ages 5 to under 10 pay 50%–75%, and children from 10 pay the adult rate; see the children policy in the Price tab.
8. Can we visit the tunnels only, or add Saigon Central Mosque?
Yes. As a private tour it can be shortened to a half-day at Cu Chi or adjusted to include Saigon Central Mosque. Contact our team to tailor it.
9. Should I choose this tour or the Cu Chi Tunnels – Mekong Delta tour?
Choose this tour for the tunnels plus Saigon’s history. If you have already seen the city, the Cu Chi Tunnels – Mekong Delta Muslim Tour 1 Day pairs the tunnels with a boat trip in the delta.
10. How do I book the Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day?
Send your date, hotel and group size through the Tour Inquiry form or WhatsApp. We reply within 24 hours with a quote; see our deposit and payment policy.

We were very happy to have used a Saigon Muslim Tours – Asia Travel Expert Co service for a day trip to Cu Chi Tunnels and the Saigon City, we visit Cu Chi tunnels in the morning, it’s incredible and the city in the afternoon with all the most popular and interesting sites including a Mosque. Mr. Duc, our tour guide was very friendly and fluent in English, the driver was good too. Don’t worry for Muslim travelers because the package is including a delicious Halal lunch in a Halal restaurant.
Thanks Mr. Jimmy for your fast response and good service, sorry for the last-minute arrangement but all were excellent.
