Halal Restaurants in Chau Doc 2026: 5 Halal Places Near the Cham Muslim Village
Is there halal food in Chau Doc? Yes. Chau Doc, on the Hau River near the Cambodian border, sits next to the largest Cham Muslim community in the Mekong Delta, so halal food here is part of daily village life rather than a tourist niche. In October 2026 we found five halal restaurants we are comfortable recommending: Barak House, a halal Western restaurant and mocktail lounge in town, and four small Muslim-run or halal-labelled eateries in the Cham villages of Chau Phong and on the road to My Duc, serving halal beef pho, roti, bo kho and chicken rice. There is also a halal bakery, a maker of Cham beef sausage (tung lo mo) and halal butchers. None of them is on the Halal Vietnam (HVN) certificate register, so all are Muslim-run or self-declared halal. This guide ranks every place we checked by Google Maps rating, with the halal status, alcohol policy, address, hours and map link for each.

How We Checked and Ranked These Restaurants
Tripadvisor lists no halal restaurant in Chau Doc, and a few online guides name places we could not find at the stated address. So we searched Google Maps around Chau Doc town, the Cham villages of Chau Giang and Chau Phong across the Hau River, Da Phuoc to the north and My Duc to the east, and read the recent reviews of every place that mentions halal. We only list a restaurant when it is Muslim-run, holds a halal certificate, or clearly states that its food is halal, and we left out places with no recent reviews or no halal statement. Restaurants are ranked by Tripadvisor rating first, then Google Maps rating, weighing both the score and how many people have reviewed the place; none of the five is listed on Tripadvisor yet.
We also searched the public register of Halal Vietnam (HVN), the country’s main halal certification body, for An Giang province and found no restaurant in Chau Doc on it. You can search the HVN certificate register yourself. Since 1 July 2025 An Giang has absorbed Kien Giang province and district-level towns such as Chau Doc and Tan Chau have been replaced by wards and communes, so you may see new place names on Google Maps.
Halal Restaurants in Chau Doc, Ranked by Rating
1. Barak House Restaurant and Mocktail Lounge
The most-reviewed halal restaurant in Chau Doc and the only sit-down halal restaurant on the town side of the river. It belongs to the same Barak House brand as the halal restaurant in Thao Dien, Ho Chi Minh City, which states that it uses 100% halal ingredients in a dedicated halal kitchen. Muslim diners in Chau Doc repeatedly describe it as fully halal, and as a mocktail lounge it serves no alcohol on the menu. Expect city prices. Reviews of the food are mixed: the salmon, fries and ice cream get the most praise, while a few recent diners found the steak and pasta dry and the bathrooms in need of attention.
- Address: 212 Tan Lo Kieu Luong Street, Chau Doc (on the road from the town centre towards Sam Mountain)
- Cuisine: Western dishes with a Middle Eastern touch: steaks, grilled salmon, pasta, salads, fries, ice cream and mocktails
- Opening hours: 15:00–22:00 daily
- Halal status: Halal ingredients and dedicated halal kitchen stated by the brand; no certificate seen
- Alcohol: No alcohol on the menu (mocktail lounge)
- Good for: Dinner in town, families, groups and anyone who wants Western food
- Phone / WhatsApp: +84 775 619 236

2. Restaurant Muslim HANIF (Halal)
A small family-run Muslim restaurant in the Cham village of Chau Phong, a few minutes from Mubarak and Jamiul Azhar mosques. It is the place Muslim travellers mention most for halal beef pho and roti in the Chau Doc area, and recent reviews praise the friendly owners, the cleanliness and the low prices. The menu is short, so come for pho, roti and coffee rather than a long dinner. One reviewer reports that it is halal-certified, but we found no certificate on the Halal Vietnam register, so treat it as Muslim-run halal.
- Address: Chau Phong commune, near the Mubarak Mosque in the Cham village (Google Maps plus code P48H+77)
- Cuisine: Cham and Malay-Indonesian home cooking: halal beef pho, roti (banh plata), simple rice dishes and Vietnamese iced coffee
- Opening hours: Not published; usually open from breakfast to evening, so check Google Maps or ask your guide
- Halal status: Muslim-run, halal-only kitchen; no certificate found on the HVN register
- Alcohol: No
- Good for: Halal pho and roti breakfast or lunch on a visit to the Cham village
- Tripadvisor rating: Not yet listed on Tripadvisor
- Google Maps rating: ★ 4.6/5 – Open HANIF in Google Maps

3. Pho Bo – Lau Bo Hakim
A small halal pho shop on the main road east of Chau Doc. Muslim reviewers single it out for homemade halal pho and bo kho, very friendly owners and low prices, and it is one of the few places where you can also buy halal beef and sausages to cook yourself. It is about 10 minutes by taxi from the town centre, so it fits best on the way to or from Long Xuyen and Can Tho. An older Google listing, Pho Bo Hakim (Halal) at 470 Group 12 in the same commune, carries good but older reviews; call to check which address is open now.
- Address: 640 Chau Long Street, My Duc commune (on the main road east of Chau Doc)
- Cuisine: Halal beef pho, bo kho (beef stew), beef hotpot; also sells halal beef and beef sausages to take away
- Opening hours: Not published; call or ask your guide before you go

- Tripadvisor rating: Not yet listed on Tripadvisor
- Google Maps rating: ★ 5.0/5 – Open Hakim in Google Maps
4. Com Ga Le Sa (Halal)
A small halal chicken-rice shop in My Duc that labels itself halal on Google Maps. Every review rates it five stars for tasty, filling and cheap food, but there are only a handful of them, so treat it as a quick lunch stop rather than a destination.
- Address: My Duc commune, near Nguyen Chi Linh Street (about 4 km east of the town centre)
- Cuisine: Halal chicken rice (com ga) and simple rice plates
- Opening hours: Not published; call ahead
- Halal status: Self-declared halal; no certificate seen
- Alcohol: No
- Good for: A cheap halal lunch on the road east of Chau Doc
- Phone / WhatsApp: +84 913 836 719

5. Quan An Halal (Chau Giang)
A small eatery in Chau Giang hamlet, a short walk from Jamiul Azhar Mosque, open from early morning to evening. It labels itself halal and stands in the heart of the Cham Muslim village, but it has very few online reviews, so we list it as a convenient back-up near the mosques rather than a top pick.
- Address: 311 Chau Giang hamlet, Chau Phong commune
- Cuisine: Local halal rice and noodle dishes
- Opening hours: 06:00–21:00 daily
- Halal status: Self-declared halal, in the Cham Muslim village; no certificate seen
- Alcohol: No
- Good for: Breakfast or a quick meal near the mosques

Mosques in and around Chau Doc
The Cham Muslim villages around Chau Doc have many mosques and small prayer houses (surau). The best known are in Chau Giang hamlet, directly across the Hau River from the town. Since Chau Doc Bridge opened on 23 April 2024, the old Chau Giang ferry has closed, and the villages are about 10 minutes from the town centre by taxi or motorbike. Visitors are welcome outside the mosques; dress modestly, and non-Muslim visitors should ask before entering a prayer hall.
| Mosque | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mubarak Mosque | Chau Giang hamlet, Chau Phong | One of the oldest mosques of the Cham community in the Mekong Delta, with twin white minarets; a few minutes’ walk from HANIF |
| Jamiul Azhar Mosque | Group 8, Chau Giang hamlet, Chau Phong | Large mosque with a Qur’an school (madrasah) in its grounds; Quan An Halal is nearby |
| Al-Ehsan (Ihsan) Mosque | Provincial Road 956, Da Phuoc / Vinh Hau area, north of Chau Doc | Mosque of the Cham village of Da Phuoc, about 15 minutes by road from the town centre |
Halal Food at Chau Doc Hotels
We found no hotel in Chau Doc with a confirmed halal kitchen. Victoria Chau Doc Hotel appears on a Muslim-friendly booking site, which lists alcohol-free rooms on request and halal food nearby, but not halal meals in the hotel. If you stay in town, eat at Barak House or in the Cham village, or ask your hotel for fish, egg and vegetable dishes cooked without pork, lard or rice wine.
Practical Tips for Eating Halal in Chau Doc
- Cross the river to eat. Most Muslim-run food is in Chau Giang and Chau Phong, not in the town centre. Combine lunch with a visit to Mubarak or Jamiul Azhar Mosque.
- Go early. Village eateries are busiest at breakfast and lunch, and some dishes sell out by the afternoon.
- Be careful with Chau Doc’s famous dishes. Bun ca (fish noodle soup) and the fermented fish of Chau Doc are pork-free in themselves, but lau mam (fermented fish hotpot) is usually served with pork belly, and ordinary restaurants share pots, stock and grills with pork.
- Take halal snacks on a boat trip. The floating fish farms, the Cham village by boat and Tra Su Forest have no halal food on the way; buy cakes from FaKyHah or bring roti from the village.
- Visit Sam Mountain after lunch in town. Barak House is on the road from the centre to Sam Mountain, which makes it a convenient dinner stop after the sunset view.
- Ask for help in Vietnamese or Malay. Many Cham families speak some Malay, which helps Malaysian and Indonesian travellers order.
