Highlights

  • Independence Palace: the 1960s presidential palace, also called the Reunification Palace, where the war ended on 30 April 1975; its basement command bunker is open to visitors.
  • War Remnants Museum: photo galleries on the human cost of the war, with aircraft, tanks and artillery displayed in the courtyard.
  • Saigon Central Post Office and Notre-Dame Cathedral: two French-era landmarks facing Paris Square; the post office was completed in the 1890s.
  • Saigon Central Mosque: at 66 Dong Du Street, built in 1935 by the city’s Indian Muslim community; read our guide to mosques in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Ben Thanh Market: coffee, cashews, dried fruit and handicrafts under one roof; see our Saigon shopping guide.

Halal Food and Muslim Travel Notes

  • Halal meals: lunch is served at a halal restaurant with certified halal food, close to the mosque. For dinner ideas, see our guide to halal restaurants in Saigon.
  • Mosque: the tour visits Saigon Central Mosque at 66 Dong Du Street after lunch.
  • Dress code: the Independence Palace does not admit visitors in shorts or sleeveless tops, and modest dress is expected at the mosque; ladies may like to bring a headscarf.

Who This Tour Suits – and Who Should Choose Another

  • Good for: a first day in Saigon, families, older travellers and anyone on a short stopover who wants the city’s history, a mosque visit and a halal lunch without planning.
  • Choose another tour if you also want the Cu Chi Tunnels – take the Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day – or if you prefer the countryside, in which case the Mekong Delta Muslim Tour 1 Day suits you better.
  • Not included: the Cu Chi Tunnels, the Mekong Delta, dinner and the inside of Notre-Dame Cathedral, which is closed for restoration.

Is One Day Enough to See Ho Chi Minh City?

For the main sights, yes. One day covers the palace, the war museum, the French-era centre, the mosque and Ben Thanh Market at a comfortable pace. With a second day you can add the Cu Chi Tunnels or the Mekong Delta; with three days you can see both, as on our Ho Chi Minh Muslim Tour 3 Days.

Customize Your Ho Chi Minh City Muslim Tour 1 Day

  • Start later or finish earlier to fit an arrival or departure flight.
  • Add more shopping time at Ben Thanh Market or a nearby shopping centre.
  • Add a half-day at the Cu Chi Tunnels in the morning and keep the city sights for the afternoon.
  • Book a city hotel close to Saigon Central Mosque and the halal restaurants on Dong Du Street.

Local Expert Notes

By Jimmy, Saigon Muslim Tours

  • The Independence Palace opens daily from 7:00 to 18:00 and the War Remnants Museum from 7:30 to 17:30, so an 08:00 start lets you see both before the midday heat and the tour groups.
  • Notre-Dame Cathedral is under restoration until beyond 2027; you see the façade and Paris Square, and the Central Post Office next door is open as normal.
  • From May to November short, heavy afternoon showers are common. Carry a light umbrella; the indoor stops at the museum and the market keep the day on track.
  • Bring some Vietnamese dong in small notes for Ben Thanh Market and agree a price before you buy; many stalls do not take cards.

A Memorable One-Day Muslim-Friendly Tour of Ho Chi Minh City

I recently had the pleasure of joining a one-day Muslim-friendly tour of Ho Chi Minh City, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience tailored perfectly for Islamic travelers. The tour provided a wonderful blend of cultural exploration, spiritual visits, and shopping opportunities, making it a standout choice for anyone looking to experience the best of Saigon in a single day.

Top Tourist Attractions
The tour began with visits to some of Ho Chi Minh City’s most iconic landmarks. The War Remnants Museum was both informative and moving, offering deep insights into Vietnam’s history. The Reunification Palace was a fascinating site, showcasing the historical significance of the location. The Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon was a highlight with its stunning architecture and serene ambiance.

Spiritual Visits
One of the tour’s most memorable aspects was the inclusion of visits to important mosques. The Central Mosque provided a peaceful retreat in the heart of the bustling city, while the Lam Son Mosque offered another tranquil spot for reflection. Both mosques were beautifully maintained and provided a meaningful spiritual experience.

Shopping and Local Culture
If you have some time left after sightseeing, the shopping opportunities are fantastic. We explored vibrant local markets and modern malls, which offered a great variety of goods. The tour also included visits to traditional performances and artisan workshops, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the local culture.

Overall, this Muslim-friendly tour is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of Islamic travelers, ensuring a respectful and enriching experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City who wants to make the most of their time in this incredible city.

Thank you

Leni

Ho Chi Minh City Muslim tour 1 day was excellent!

We did not have much time while in Ho Chi Minh City for a business trip, we booked this one-day tour in the last minutes and Mr. Jimmy was very fast in response and arranged the tour very well. Good travel service, the guide is very knowledgeable and driver is friendly. The Halal lunch was very good too. We visited all the most interesting sights in Saigon: Reunification Palace, Vietnam War Remnants Museum, Central Mosque or Lam Son Mosque or other Muslim mosques in Ho Chi Minh City, The Hundred Years Red Cathedral (Notre Dame Cathedral), The Old Post Office and The People’s Committee Hall (take photos) and also China town and some shopping.

Once again, thank you and will use Saigon Muslim Tours – Asia Travel Expert again next time and will definitely recommend our friends to visit Vietnam!

Thank you

Rashidah
