• On the Halong Bay cruise: Halong Phoenix Cruise has no halal kitchen, so lunch, dinner and the next day’s lunch on board are seafood or vegetarian with no meat. A cruise with a halal kitchen, such as Mon Chéri Cruises, can be booked instead at extra cost.
• Free evenings: dinners on days 2, 3, 5 and 7 are not included; your guide can recommend halal restaurants near your hotel.
• Mosques: the tour visits Saigon Central Mosque on day 1 and Al-Noor Mosque in Hanoi, the only mosque in northern Vietnam, on day 4.
• Dress code: shoulders and knees covered at mosques, temples and the Independence Palace; comfortable clothes you do not mind getting dusty at Cu Chi.

Who This Tour Suits – and Who Should Choose Another

• Good for: first-time visitors with about a week who want the south and the north of Vietnam, families with children aged 5 and over, couples and older travellers happy with a moderate pace.

• Not included: the domestic flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi (quoted once your dates are fixed), the War Remnants Museum, central Vietnam and dinners on four evenings. The cruise and the shuttle bus to Halong Bay are shared with other guests.

Is 8 Days Enough for Saigon and Hanoi?

Yes, for the highlights of both. Eight days gives three full days around Ho Chi Minh City, two in and around Hanoi and a night on Halong Bay, with one short flight in between. It is not enough to add central Vietnam as well: Hoi An and Ba Na Hills need at least two more days, which is why our 10-day package exists. If you have a spare day, the easiest additions are a second night on the bay or a free day in Hanoi before your flight home.

The pace is steady rather than rushed. The longest travel days are day 4, with the flight north and an afternoon city tour, and days 6 and 7, with about 2.5–3 hours each way by shuttle bus between Hanoi and Halong Bay. Day 8 is free until your airport transfer.

• The Independence Palace is open every day from 7:00 to 18:00, so the day 1 city tour works with most morning arrivals.
• Cu Chi is hot and humid most of the year; wear light, breathable clothes and closed shoes. From May to November, short afternoon downpours are common in Saigon and the Mekong Delta, so carry a light rain jacket.
• Send us your full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and visa expiry date before the trip – the cruise needs them – and keep your passport with you for check-in.
• From June to September, storms can close Halong Bay to cruises at short notice. If that happens, we move the cruise to another day or suggest an alternative.
